Obviously - there are a lot of assumptions in there - as well as printerville's assumptions I've assumed the 2 printers use the same quantity of ink per print - so the figures should be taken with a large pinch of salt. To provide the extra prints to match the 'out the box' R3880 the R2880 will need another 6 sets of cartridges = 6 x £95 = £570 - which places it as a more costly printer. The R2880 - with ink provided - should produce approx 119 prints The R3880 - with ink provided - should produce approx 850 prints However, I then factored in the included ink - and the story switched. (I used figures from as a guide - then recalculated on the basis of UK cartridge costs £45 for the R3880, and £14 for the R2880)įor sale of prints - that extra 30p per print isn't a huge amount assuming sale price of approx £25 - and it was nudging me towards the R2880 as the cheaper option.
The R2880 (£600) including a full set of 11ml inks (worth £95) - prints 10 x 8 at approx £0.75 per page. The R3880 (£999) including a full set of 80ml inks (worth £375) - prints 10x8 at approx £0.45 per page.
Main use will be printing of cards and prints for sale at fairs - but will also be using for architectural drawings (hence the A2 size of the R3880 as a major plus to me).Ī quick back of the envelope calculation has thrown up the issue of ink costs - resulting in the R3880 being a no-brainer ? not sure whether I've calculated this correctly, but in summary: I'm considering a purchase of either of these 2 printers for a variety of printing.
